There are two main groups of Andean Music described here, the type or genre of music and the region from which it is found. Although music genre and regional style will overlap each other there are some very distinct differences separated by the region in which the music originated.
Some distinct Andean Music are the Wayno, Carnaval,Tinku, Saya, San Juanito and the Takirari to name only a few. The following rhythms are unique to certain countries in the Andes, the Waynos are from both Peru and Bolivia, the Takirari and Tinku are also associated mainly with Bolivia.
